Cebu to revive Algeria oil exploration<br/><br/>Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro says that Cebu Province will redevelop the Alegria Oil Field as part of its long-term energy security plan. Baricuatro said this during the The Freeman's Power Forward Visayas 2025 forum on April 24, 2026, as she outlined measures to address rising electricity demand in the province. The Department of Energy approved exploration activities in Alegria town allowing Indonesian firm Texcal Energy to begin work in the area as part of efforts to revive local oil production.
